How to Choose a Waterproof Case

Match the case to the camera generation

A waterproof case is built around one camera, so the first question is always the pairing: which case model, and which camera generation it is built for, stated together. A case for one generation does not become a case for another by looking similar, and the button layout and the lens window are built for the camera they enclose. If the pairing is wrong, the case is wrong, whatever its depth figure says.

The only case specification table on this site is on the 60m waterproof case detail page for DJI Osmo Action 6. That page gives the published figures for that exact model, and its figures must not be carried across to any other case. For every other case, the family page is the starting point and the supplier's written answer for the exact case model is the specification. Ask for the depth figure and the basis behind it for the model you are ordering, not for the family in general.

Check buttons, lens, and the whole setup

Ask whether the buttons operate every control you need through the housing, and whether the lens window suits the shooting you plan, including any filter use. Ask what is included with the case and what must be ordered separately, such as mounts or anti-fog inserts, so the inquiry covers the whole setup. Ask about maintenance and seal care in the supplier's own words for that model, since a housing's real-world performance depends on its seals as much as on its headline figure.
